April 30th

The final day of my favorite month ended in a surreal way! I wish I could describe the theatre community to people who've never experienced it. It's like hanging out with your best friends, but you've probably only known each other a matter of months or day or, in last night's case, hours. The availability and openness of theatre people makes me so very happy.

My dear friend, Leighton (whom I've know for a matter of months) is performing in The Heidi Chronicles. Knowing they're closing soon, I bought myself a ticket. It just thrills me to see my friends on a Broadway stage!!

After the show, I busted over to the stage door. I haven't seen Leighton in forever, but again a cxn in NYC gets deep faster than anywhere else, especially with actors.

Leighton gives me the high-dollar, backstage tour. I've now stood on 5 Broadway stages. Met her co-stars, such an incredibly strong cast! And everyone was heading to karaoke. The grownup in me said I needed to get to bed for my morning shift, but I did not move to NYC to be well-rested.

The night went well into the morning. The incredible lead of the show, bought everyone pizza. Another notable Tony winner made an appearance and sang a very memorable duet of "Time of My Life". The night ended with hugs and laughter and with heavy eyes, I floated home on the NQ.

One of those nights that could've only happened here, in this City. When I think I've had enough or my pursuits are amounting to nothing or I should play it safe & move home, these are the type of nights that keep me embracing the spontaneity & adventure that makes this life fun!
