Feb. 28th

And I quote, "I'll tell my husband and if that's not okay, I'll be back to yell at you." Words from a guest's mouth before 9:00AM. Why am I still enduring this type of verbal abuse?
Lucky was dropped off by some guests to keep us company, which lifted my spirits :)

This bottle of beer had elephants on the outside. That made me happy. My oh-so-serious friend, Nick, just starred in a farce that I thoroughly enjoyed for free.

Big sister's first day of school & I wasn't allowed to go with her. I made no attempt to hide my displeasure. I've never liked missing out on anything. #tbt

Feb. 25th

Girl Scout cookies from Abbie!! She works in Times Square, right next to TKTS, so naturally I checked the board. Constellations was listed at 40% off! Still exorbitantly expensive but, I splurged. First EPA of my life for this show (which I obviously did not get).
Between purchasing my ticket and show time, I popped over to Delphinium. Truly the best shop to kill time or get a gift for any one. I found these cards. I hope to always be a person with her head in the clouds and feet on the ground!

DUCK DAY!! After attending an open call for instructors for my current obsession (FlyWheel), I was in such a good mood that I decided to cut across Central Park and enjoy the gorgeous sunshine! Then I found the ducks. I've never seen so many ducks!!! Amazing.

Feb. 23rd

A woman arrived to check-in, but I couldn't find the name on our Arrivals list. After asking if it could be under a different name, I searched our system and discovered they'd reserved the night before and we'd checked them out as a 'No-Show'. When I told her this I saw her spirits drop as she whispered, "he had one job". The 'he' of this statement was her new husband. They were coming to the hotel to celebrate their honeymoon.

As her tears were beginning to well up, I assured her we had rooms to accommodate her and walked her over to have some tea while we sorted everything out. Thankfully, I was working with Evelyne and she agreed with my suggestion to give them a ridiculous upgrade to a Fireplace Corner Suite, since we didn't have the availability to give them the room they originally booked.

Also, our Reservations Manager let us give them a credit for a free night their next stay, which is our way of refunding the no-show charge. Basically, this was one of those wonderful moments in my job when we get to make someone's stay a memorable one! Saving what could've been a terrible start to their honeymoon/life together! haha! Maybe I'm feeling a bit grand about this, but I have such little power in most situations and this one felt special.

They sent flowers as a "thank you". It's days like this that make me love this job!!

Feb. 22nd

Technically, this photo was taken in the wee hours of Sunday morning. As is always the case when trekking over to Hannah's apartment, cause it's practically in the East River!! I mean, c'mon, they live between York Ave & East End! It's faster for me to swim home than taking the train.
But they have the smallest bathroom in the world, which I find hilarious.

More snow in NYC! I rode with my dear friend, Nowani, and this image was right outside the studio. After sweating buckets inside on stationary bikes, I found this juxtaposition too beautiful not to capture.

The infamous facebook post: "Just got home & found this on my doorstep! Can we talk about this cover of Texas Monthly?! Y'all know I love a good debate! Ready GO!!"

More than 200 comments on this one. People had some things to say. Loved it.

SNL 40th Anniversary bag left by an alumni for pickup. I got dibs if it is never collected!

Reunited with the gorgeous and talented Calaine backstage at the One-Minute Play Festival tech rehearsal. We laugh so easily together. I like her :)

Mini-Esper reunion dinner at our casa! Yeah Shuhei!!

Tue became possessed...

Then enraged when our helicopter was about to go under a bridge, it cut to a new scene!!

Nothing like dinner overlooking the Swiss Alps.

Took myself to see some jazz on a chilly Thursday night :) My wonderful friend, Richard Bernard, is the sound engineer for the legendary Birdland Jazz Club in midtown. Everyone who has ever been anyone in the world of jazz and has played in NYC has played at Birdland. It was a lovely, mellow night sipping some delicious red wine and listening to a super talented band! #classy

OUR BAR WRITER'S RETREAT!!! These people are amazing! I'm gonna learn a lot just from being in the same room with them and I couldn't ask for anything more!

Feb. 10th

BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Sleep No More is the most unique theatre one will ever experience. This is my second time, but this one was so much better! The first time I spent the first hour searching for any actors!  With some tips from folks in the show, it was infinitely better!

My pal, Ed Stanley, has been performing for the past year and a half and I wait until his last week to finally witness it! I immediately headed to the ballroom & found him dancing away :) Like a good actor, I found a pool of light so he could see me. He took my hand and whispered words about being the temple of God.

Then I raced up to the top floor cause I really really wanted to be abducted. I'd heard rumors of this and I totally wanted to experience it myself. Thru strategic positioning, I got to go inside the hut with the nurse, she spoon fed me tea and told me a story about a little girl. Not creepy, just strange & whimsical. I saw so many beautifully choreographed scenes, a touching lip-syncing scene, got abducted again by the taxidermist, ate a lemon drop, was escorted into the crazy strobe light dance thing, then watched the final banquet scene w/ a beautiful character beside me who escorted me out & kissed me on the cheek and said, 'Thank you"

Truly memorable and magical! Loved. It.

Pedicure for my physical therapy appointment, cause THAT is what my doctor will care about. My scar is looking great, right?

Feb. 8th

A wonderful something posted to the Facebook by a friend. I stole it.
Seemed like a good thing for today. Brunched w/ former co-workers. Strange to be the only one still attached to the hotel. But I also kinda love it.
Then to my French cafe and spent the whole meal on the phone with my mother. She's the most wonderful woman. Courageous. Loving. So so so maternal. I missed church because of our chat but that felt like church.
Afterwards, I went to another form of church...FlyWheel. Haha! Took a 60 min class and set a new personal record. 393. I just love palindromes. Might name my kid Hannah just cause it's a palindrome. Or maybe Anna. Elle. Eve. Ava. Bob.

Feb. 7th

In the middle of a loooooong stretch of morning shifts. The actual day is irrelevant. Starts at 5:00am work till 3:00pm then something fills the rest of the night. Today, a production of Titus Andronicus by the Shakespeare Exchange. The concept was engaging, but I could not keep my eyes open. Out of respect for the actors/company, I left at intermission. As a performer, I'd rather have an empty seat than a dozing audience member. The show was excellent.

Photo: Whole Foods overlooking Union Square. Lovely. There were some crazy homeless folks beside me rolling a joint that got into a "discussion" with a German woman about who spent more at Whole Foods. I think the homeless couple won that argument. Ah, New York.

The yoga class... interesting. Only having practiced Bikram, I had no idea what I was getting into with a Vinyasa Flow class. The staff was incredibly unfriendly and the instructor had all kinds of sass. I tried my dardest to keep up with whatever the hell that man was saying. Whatev. I did it. Yeah Class Pass. Thanks Mom.

Our bell captain was asked to watch a guest's dog for the afternoon... this tiny puppy completely distracted the entire staff for the remainder of the day. No real work happened for hours.

Not #tbt post! My poor friend, Sietzka, broke her ankle at LGA last month. Fresh out of surgery and trapped in the apartment with crutches... one short year ago, this was me, minus the awesome unicorn onesie! If I'd owned one of those, I might have been in a better place!
Speedy recovery my dear Canadian!

"A MAN BEARD. A BIG MAN BEARD ON YOUR FACE!"
So. Much. Fun! And this photo snapped by my big little brother, ZB, who finally saw me perform something! Our Bar is the most fun expression of art in which I've participated! I hope to be a part of this company for a while!

Feb. 3rd

One of the best costume pieces I've ever worn in all my life. Another brilliant scene penned by my gorgeous & talented Kaelin for Our Bar. This was the night before the show as I became one with my beard! Such a sexy beard, no?

Early morning slush and hidden, ankle-deep ice puddles... awful. The bell closet smelled repulsive during this drying period.

Feb. 1st

Today marks the anniversary of my broken foot. One year ago I'd jumped down a step and snapped my 5th metatarsal bone into three parts. A lot has happened in a year and this extraordinary day is proof of that! Woke up to try a new restaurant for brunch in the W. Village with my sister and her husband (and Pammy), then raced up to Lincoln Square to ride in a 60 min FlyWheel class, then raced back downtown to Greenwich Village to meet up with Laura and my new friend, Molly (also a Texan), then enjoyed an exceptionally unique Off-Broadway show that I participated in and was the love interest of the main character, went for another drink after with two new friends introduced again by Laura, and now home to bed early and completely ignoring Super Bowl Sunday.

Happy Anniversary right foot!
